Jess Vujovic
Jess is a PlanAdapt Fellow, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Jess has over ten years of experience in the fields of climate change and carbon management. Throughout her career she has been deeply involved in a wide range of climate change focused projects, including the development and implementation of adaptation, vulnerability, and mitigation initiatives. More recently Jess has been working extensively in the private sector assisting where she has assisted blue-chip companies with their corporate climate and sustainability strategies, climate futures scenario analysis and climate-related disclosures such as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
Jess has always had a passion for the human and social side of climate change, specifically climate change education. She believes that education is the foundation on which meaningful climate action (i.e. adaptation and climate risk management), and broader policy will be built. Clear, compassionate climate change education will allow for individuals not only to adapt to the multi-faceted environmental issues which face their communities and society at large, but also equip them with the skills needed to navigate and manage the risks associated with climate change effectively. This passion led her to add to her education by completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, with the goal to meaningfully combine her passion for and knowledge on climate change with education.
Jess also holds a Master of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies, the thesis for which examined teachers’ knowledge and perceptions of climate change.
