Sudev Madhav Dileep
Madhav is an Intern (Research, Collaboration & Innovation – Climate Risk Management, Climate Adaptation) at PlanAdapt’s Coordination Hub, based in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Originally from Bengaluru, India, Madhav is an anthropologist by training. His work documenting the Traditional Knowledge of indigenous communities in South India led to a recognition of the interconnectedness of culture, ecology and practice, and the need to include diverse voices and perspectives in the policy discourse on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Currently pursuing an MSc in Local Environmental Change and Sustainable Cities at Radboud University in the Netherlands, for his master’s thesis, Madhav is examining climate adaptation and urban water governance systems in the context of his home city, Bengaluru. This research seeks to prioritise just and inclusive approaches to planning and strategy development for climate adaptation and resilience, especially in the challenging contexts of the Global South.
Prior to joining PlanAdapt, Madhav worked as a consultant at a boutique public policy consultancy firm in India, where his work cut across multiple domains, including labour rights, gender, education and livelihoods. In this capacity, he worked with both multilateral organizations, as well as national NGOs and government bodies. This experience provided him insight into both the national and global financial and development architecture, as well as further illustrated the impacts of climate change on diverse sectors and communities.
At PlanAdapt, Madhav is keen to further explore the development of climate adaptation and mitigation strategies in the Global South.
