Victoria Herbert

Victoria has recently joined the team as a Research, Collaboration and Innovation Intern. Originally from Sydney, Australia, she is now based in Berlin, Germany.

Before joining PlanAdapt, Victoria worked with the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government across a variety of areas relating to environmental management, sustainability and climate change. Most recently she worked as the Acting Assistant Director within the Office for the ACT Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment, conducting investigations into pressing environmental issues and government practices that result in substantial impacts on the environment in the ACT. During this role, she co-produced the 2023 ACT State of the Environment Report which provided the ACT community and Government with commentary and analysis about the condition of the environment and progress towards sustainability. She has also volunteered with a range of NGOs relating to environmental advocacy, biodiversity protection and the pursuit of gender-diverse leadership in the climate/environment movement in Australia.

Victoria has completed a Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability, majoring in sustainability studies and minoring in human ecology at the Australian National University with a year spent studying at Stockholm University, Sweden. She is currently completing a Master of Climate Change, specialising in climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University.

With PlanAdapt, she is interested in exploring innovative adaptation practices that centre socially inclusive and economically just approaches that encompass both procedural and distributive justice considerations.
